Product Update: Fundraise Up Integration Now Available in Charity Automator. Sync Online Donations with Raiser’s Edge NXT

Nonprofits can now connect Fundraise Up with Raiser’s Edge NXT using Charity Automator. Automate donation syncing, eliminate manual imports, and improve data accuracy.

SimpliPhi has released a new Fundraise Up integration for Charity Automator. This update allows nonprofits to automatically sync online donations from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT using Charity Automator Data Flow. The result is faster gift processing, cleaner data, and real-time reporting across fundraising and finance teams.

What is new

  • Direct API integration with Fundraise Up into the Charity Automator Data Warehouse
  • Automatic data cleaning and removal of sensitive payment information
  • Support for custom form fields and donor questions
  • Flexible mapping to Raiser’s Edge NXT through Charity Automator Data Flow
“We built the Fundraise Up integration to pull clean, well structured donation data by reading their schema, interpreting gaps, and creating a robust table design,” said Alex Cristea, Software Developer, SimpliPhi. “The result is an API pipeline that our team can reuse for future sources. For Fundraise Up, we pull data into the Warehouse and then push gifts into Raiser’s Edge NXT with Data Flow.”

How it works

  1. Charity Automator connects to Fundraise Up and pulls donation data through the API.
  2. The Data Warehouse standardizes records, stores custom fields and donor questions in a separate linked table, and scrubs sensitive fields.
  3. Data Flow maps the Warehouse fields to be compatible with Raiser’s Edge NXT business rules, gift coding, and exceptions, then posts gifts into Raiser’s Edge NXT.

The current implementation uses full synchronizations because the Fundraise Up API does not yet provide a reliable last modified timestamp for incremental runs. Once Fundraise Up enables that field, SimpliPhi will extend the connector to support incremental syncs for near real time updates.

“Teams want gifts in Raiser’s Edge NXT quickly and coded the way finance and marketing expect,” said Christina Giffen, Project Coordinator, SimpliPhi. “Our managed Data Flow handles complex rules, from channel and package logic to appeal attribution. If you rely on Fundraise Up for high performing donation forms, this connection keeps your database of record current and your reporting consistent.”

Why This Integration Matters for Nonprofits

  • Faster gift processing: Donations move automatically from Fundraise Up to Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Improved data quality: Charity Automator enforces validation rules and removes manual cleanup.
  • Better reporting: Combine Fundraise Up and Raiser’s Edge NXT data for Power BI dashboards.
  • Custom flexibility: Retain all donor questions, form data, and recurring gift details.
“I am proud of this one,” added Alex. “It is the largest connector I have shipped so far. We solved tricky issues and created components we can reuse when we add future sources.”

Availability

The Fundraise Up data source is available now for Charity Automator clients. The connector pulls data from Fundraise Up and posts gifts into Raiser’s Edge NXT through SimpliPhi’s managed Data Flow service. Posting to other CRMs can be scoped on request.

This update benefits fundraising and data operations teams that rely on both Fundraise Up and Raiser’s Edge NXT. Annual giving managers gain faster visibility into new online donations, finance teams receive accurately coded gifts for reconciliation, and data specialists spend less time on manual imports or cleanup. Organizations running bilingual or high-volume digital campaigns will see particular value, since the integration preserves every donor detail from Fundraise Up (including form questions and recurring gift data) while maintaining the structure required for consistent reporting inside Raiser’s Edge NXT and Power BI.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Fundraise Up Integration for Charity Automator

Q1: Does Charity Automator push data back into Fundraise Up?

No. The new Fundraise Up integration is one-way. Charity Automator securely pulls donation data from Fundraise Up’s API into the Data Warehouse and then posts gifts into Raiser’s Edge NXT using Data Flow. There is no write-back or data push into Fundraise Up.

Q2: How does data synchronization between Fundraise Up and Raiser’s Edge NXT work?

Right now, Charity Automator runs full data synchronizations. The Fundraise Up API does not yet include a “last modified” field required for incremental syncs. Once that field becomes available, SimpliPhi will enable incremental synchronization for faster and more frequent updates.

Q3: How does Charity Automator protect donor and payment data?

All sensitive payment details are automatically scrubbed before being stored in the Data Warehouse. Only the fields required for reporting and reconciliation remain. This ensures compliance, data security, and donor privacy.

Q4: How are custom fields and donor questions from Fundraise Up handled?

Custom form fields and donor questions are stored in dedicated linked tables within the Data Warehouse. This design keeps every answer connected to the right donation record and supports flexible field mapping into Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Q5: Can Charity Automator handle complex business rules for gift coding?

Yes. Through Charity Automator Data Flow, teams can apply conditional logic for appeals, campaigns, channels, and packages, ensuring every gift is coded correctly based on organizational business rules.

Q6: Who benefits most from the Fundraise Up data integration?

This update is ideal for fundraising, annual giving, and data operations teams that depend on accurate, real-time donation data in Raiser’s Edge NXT. Organizations running bilingual or high-volume online campaigns will see the strongest impact.

Q7: How quickly can donations appear in Raiser’s Edge NXT?

Once implemented, donations from Fundraise Up can appear in Raiser’s Edge on the same day through scheduled runs. When incremental sync becomes available, updates will occur even faster and in smaller batches.

Q8: Can Fundraise Up data be used for analytics and Power BI dashboards?

Yes. The Charity Automator Data Warehouse enables cross-platform reporting. You can blend Fundraise Up donations with Raiser’s Edge and Financial Edge data to build unified dashboards in Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.

Q9: Can the mapping or data logic be updated later?

Absolutely. SimpliPhi manages all Data Flow configurations, allowing field mappings and business rules to evolve as your campaigns or database structure change—without manual rework.

Q10: Will this integration support other fundraising platforms in the future?

Yes. The connector was designed with reusable components for schema reading and table creation, making it faster to add future data sources such as Engaging Networks or BBCRM.
